The Nioka Solar site has excellent solar irradiance. It sits within the eastern section of the Central North Renewable Energy Zone (REZ), one of six Victorian onshore REZs identified in the 2025 Victorian Transmission Plan.
Existing transmission lines pass over the site. The project’s proximity to the Hume Freeway and Melbourne make it ideal for construction access and transmission.
Most of the area selected for the solar farm development is either bordered by existing solar farms or protected from view by existing vegetation.
The site is relatively cleared of vegetation, with large patches of native vegetation within the wider property being protected.
